Missouri is playing in their third Independence Bowl. The Tigers beat the South Carolina Gamcocks 38-31 back in 2005 after they lost 27-14 to the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2003. The Tigers are on a two game postseason Bowl losing streak.

North Carolina has never played in the Independence Bowl game. Last season, the Tar Heels won 30-27 in overtime over the Tennessee Volunteers in the Music City Bowl, as they snapped a three game Bowl losing streak.

While the Tar Heels are pretty much a “what you see is what you get” football team. Missouri is better than their 7-5 record shows. Except for the loss to the Sooners, the Tigers were in every game this season as four of their five losses were by 10 points or less.
