Sports Handicapping: MLB & NHL Double Duals in Detroit
Being born and raised in the Detroit area, yours truly is feeling a little homesick right now. I’d love to be at the Tigers and Red Wings games today – if I wasn’t living in the western half of North America these days.
Monday Motor City Mayhem begins with the Tigers vs Pittsburgh Pirates contest at 1:08 PM EDT at Comerica Park and closes with the Chicago Blackhawks visiting the Red Wings at 8:00 PM ET on May 27, 2013.
Detroit Tigers: Looking to pull away in AL Central Division
Although few pundits predicted that Detroit would be battling teams like Cleveland and Kansas City for the top spot in the American League Central, that’s the way the first quarter of the 2013 MLB season has gone for the Motor City Cats. Justin Verlander heads to the hill as Detroit welcomes the Pittsburgh Pirates to Motown today. The last time the Bucco’s visited Comerica Park, The Vaporizer tossed a five hit complete game in a 3-2 Tigers win (24/06/12). Pittsburgh has reeled off a bunch of wins (12-3 run) but the Tigers aren’t of the same ilk as the Brewers, Cubs, Mets, or the Astros.
Red Wings can punch their ticket to the Western Conference Final
With the automobile industry trending upwards recently, it’s nice to see that a couple of Detroit pro sports teams are following suit. The Red Wings have made Hockey Town Stanley Cup crazy as they are one win away from playing in the NHL Western Conference Final. Chicago finally solved Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard as the Blackhawks staved off elimination with a 4-1 win at the United Center on Saturday night. The series shifts back to the Joe Lewis Arena for Game Six tonight and the Wings hold a 3-2 series lead. Detroit doesn’t want to head back to Chicago for a Game Seven.
Monday Motor City Wagering Lines & Sportsbook Review Games Day Predictions
Sportsbook.com is the lines provider for the Monday Mayham in Motown. The Tigers are posted at -1.5 (+115) on the run line and -175 straight up. Slightly surprisingly, the Red Wings are home pups at +1.5 (-280) ATS and -130 on the money line. Not sure which wager we like more, and not expecting a blowout in either contest, we’ll split our normal investment 50/50 taking the Tigers on the MLB -175 money line and the Red Wings with the +1.5 (-280) NHL puck line. Rock & Roll on!
