Wagering Recap: Lions vs Redskins – NFL Week 8 Betting Odds

The Detroit Lions hosted the Washington Redskins during the Week 8 NFL 2010 NFL schedule. This NFC non-divisional action was decided at Ford Field in Detroit, MI on Sunday, October 31, 2010.

Washington was coming off a sketchy 17-14 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 7 NFL action.

The Lions regrouped on their bye week after a 28-20 hard fought loss to the New York Giants.

Lions vs Redskins: Betting Trend Movements

Compared to most Week 8 NFL betting trend movement this game was fairly close in a couple areas. On game day morning Washington spread backers (+3) accounted for 49% of the wagers while the Lions faithful had a 51% share.

Redskins fans dominated the early morning money line wagering at an 82% to 18% margin while the game total wager (45 points) was backed at 72% on the OVER.

The money line (WAS 81%) and spread wagering (DET 52%) stayed virtually unchanged at kickoff while the game total bet evened out slightly at 65% to 35% for the OVER wager.

NFL Week 8 Wagering Results: Redskins (4-4) @ Lions (2-5)

This was a heartbreaking loss for those who backed the Redskins as Washington held leads of 13-7 at halftime and 25-20 with 8:21 left in the 4th quarter.

Detroit scored three times in the final eight minutes. WR Calvin Johnson had a 10-yard TD reception (his third TD of the game), PK Jason Hanson had a 32-yard field goal and rookie DT Ndamukong Suh added a 17-yard fumble return touchdown to complete the comeback.

We got a chuckle watching 5’ 10” 209 pound WR Santana Moss trying to “tackle” the 6’ 4” 300 pound DT Suh as he showboated towards the end zone. Give the rookie some slack though as it was his first NFL TD. He will act like he has been there before the next time he gets into the end zone, you can bet on that!

Final Score: Lions 37 Redskins 25 – Home favorite covers the spread and money line – game total goes OVER.
