NFL Week 6 MNF Free Pick: Dolphins vs Jets Betting Lines

Week 6 of the NFL 2011 season comes to a close as the Miami Dolphins head north to battle the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. The schedule makers have not done a very good job of setting the MNF match-ups this season.

Not including Week 1, the Dolphins (0-4) will be the third winless team to play on MNF this season (Rams, Colts). Outside of the greater New York area, the Jets, sitting at 2-3, isn’t a much better draw.

Dolphins @ Jets Game Day Preview: Teams In Turmoil

Kick off for Week 6 MNF betting action is slated for 8:35 PM ET on Monday, October 17, 2011, from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

It’s desperation time for both teams as the Jets and Dolphins are looking up at the New England Patriots (5-1) and the Buffalo Bills (4-2) in the AFC East Division. While Miami has already kissed their playoff hopes goodbye, the Jets can probably do the same – should they lose tonight.

Check out Gang Green’s schedule over the next three weeks: at home vs. the Chargers (4-1), on the road agains the Bills (4-2), and then back home versus the Patriots (5-1) YIKES!

This game will have a Pac-10 college football feel to it as Jets QB Mark Sanchez, out of the USC, will be up against QB Matt Moore who played his college days at UCLA and Oregon State.

Neither of these guys are very good as Sanchez has shown very little in his three years with New York (31 TD 34 INT) while Moore has been a perenial back up. Moore gets the start because of a season ending shoulder injury to Miami QB Chad Henne during Week 4 action.

The team that does a better job of running the football will win this contest.

Monday Night Football Betting Lines: Jets vs. Dolphins Free Pick

We look to the sportsbook at the Bookmaker.com online sports wagering website for tonight’s Jets vs. Dolphins Monday Night Football betting lines.

This is a goat of game that saw the line open at Jets -9  but has come all the way down to -7 after the sharps jumped all over the Dolphins. The Jets are 0-3 straight up, and against the spread, the last three times they have hosted the Fins in New York.

While we have never had much confidence in New York head coach Rex Ryan, we do agree with his plan to get back to pounding the ball on the ground.

If the Jets can control the line of scrimmage, with a rushing threat, they will be able to exploit the Miami pass defense that ranks 31st in the league and is giving up 307 pass yards per game.

Matt Moore is not the answer for the Dolphins and QB Sage Rosenfels is waiting in the wings. Miami has allowed 26 points per game (27th) while scoring just 17.2 PPG. The Jets have not been much better, on either side of the ball, but we see them putting in an inspired effort tonight.
