NFL Playoffs: 49ers vs Falcons NFC Championship Odds
Championship Sunday is now just hours away as the Atlanta Falcons are set to host the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game. The stakes are high here as the winner heads to New Orleans.
With a trip to Super Bowl XLVII on the line, this game is slated for 3:00 PM ET on January 20, 2013, from what will be an extremely raucous Georgia Dome in Atlanta GA. The 49ers are bound for the Bayou!
49ers offense is now at the same level as the defense
Like him – or – not so much, you have to respect the offensive game plan coach Jim Harbaugh brought to the table against the Packers. As the graphics being shown during the games clearly exhibit, QB Colin Kaepernick is getting amazingly clear lanes to roam with help from his O-line, tight ends, wide receivers, and even his running backs. The Falcons defense is basically on par with what Green Bay had to offer so one can expect a similar attack by the Niners on Sunday.
Falcons defense has struggled versus mobile quarterbacks this season
On top of the 60 rushing yards they just allowed Robert Wilson, Atlanta struggled against Cam Newton (202 rush yards) twice during the regular season. Kaepernick also has a rocket of an arm to go along with his seemingly effortless running. WR Michael Crabtree has caught 44 passes for 657 yards and six TD in his last six games. While the Falcons D has their work cut out for them, the offense will need to score somewhere around 24 points – against a tough as nails Niners D.
NFC Championship Odds Update and Sportsbook Review Game Day Call
Taking into account Atlanta’s sparkling home record, we don’t see them scoring much against the 49ers defense that ranks in the top five in most major categories. While Kaepernick will be hard pressed to repeat his Divisional performance, especially after the Falcons see it on tape, it’s not like the Packers didn’t expect him to run last Saturday. CK181 is an athlete – pure and simple.
Scanning the betting board at bovada.lv we find the 49ers chalk line is a little thicker today. The Niners are now -5 (-110) ATS and -230 on the money line. Bettors can fly with the Falcons at +190 and the Over/Under is listed at 49 total points. We have searched high and low for reasons why Atlanta will win this contest – there aren’t many. A Teflon-coated dome isn’t enough.
We already backed the Niners on the original -3.5 opening line earlier in the week. As much as we’d like to bump the Niners up to -7.5 ATS – that’s getting greedy. As such, give us SF with the -230 ML as we back the Bourbon Street bound 49ers and take a small chunk at Bovada!
