NFL Handicapping: Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars
National Football League 2012 Week Two anticipation has reached a feverish pitch as we are now just hours from the kickoff of Sunday game day. With this post we take a look at some AFC South action.
Houston travels to Jacksonville as the Texans look to make it four straight wins over the Jaguars, Kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM ET, on September 16, 2012, from EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.
Houston Texans back AFC Championship chalk status
As preseason top favorites to win the AFC Championship, right behind the New England Patriots, Houston looked the part in their Week One dismantling of Miami. In their season home opener, the Texans jumped out a 24-3 halftime lead and then coasted to an easy 30-10 win over the Dolphins. Running back Arian Foster was in mid-season form, posting 79 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while QB Matt Ryan as a serviceable 20-31 for 266 yards and one TD.
Jacksonville Jaguars open at home after overtime road loss
In a hotly contested overtime loss to Minnesota, Jacksonville threw everything they could at the Vikings but the Jaguars came up short with a 26-23 road loss to open their season. Despite an edge in time of possession and third down efficiency, Jacksonville couldn’t put the clamps on All Pro RB Adrian Peterson who gashed them for two TD. That’s not good news for Jaguar fans with Foster and the Texans rolling into town. The Jags have lost three straight contests to Houston.
Texans vs. Jaguars Sportsbook Review NFL Week Two Prediction
Jacksonville looked better than we thought they would in Week One but the Texans are not the Vikings and the Jaguars are in tough here. This is especially true on defense as Houston will blitz sophomore QB Blaine Gabbert early and often. We ate a huge spread with the Texans last week but a divisional road game points us to the betonline.eu Money Line here. While it’s not the best price on the board, we’ll double our bet and back Houston with the -335 ML at BetOnline.
