The Week 6 2010 NFL schedule brings us a game that on paper should only go one way. The upredictable Seattle Seahawks take a trip to the Windy City for a battle against the on-form Chicago Bears.
The Bears are feeling great after a 23-6 win against the hapless Carolina Panthers. Playing at home will only increase their confidence going into Sunday action.
Seattle, meanwhile, are desperate to score points as they’ve had two weeks to think about their poor performance against the Rams in Week 4, when they lost 20-3. Expect them to show up with an everything to play for, nothing to lose attitude.
2010 Bears Offense
It is shocking the Bears have only lost one game judging by their poor offensive rankings. In the major categories, their highest placement is only 23rd in both points for (18.4) and rushing yards (98.6). They are 27th overall in total yards gaining just 280.0 per game.
Jay Cutler has thrown for 912 yards with just 3 INT so far this season but the Bears rank a lowly 27th in pass yards; averaging 280.8 per game. He’ll need to be patient and very selective in his throws to keep his stats up.
2010 Seahawks Defense
Ranking second last in the league and allowing 302 pass yards per game, Seattle has to make sure they get to Cutler cleanly, and often. With teams knowing they can pass against the Seahawks, the Seattle run defense is ranked a deceptive 2nd overall (72.8). It could come down to a ‘Jay Cutler vs the Seahawks secondary’ showdown.
Seahawks vs Bears Betting Odds & Game Prediction
The current betting odds posted at Sportsbook.com have Chicago as a -1.5 home favorite with the game total set at 37.5 points.
Over at SportsInteraction.com, the Bears are a -290 favorite while the ‘Hawks +245 underdogs against the money line.
Game Prediction: The Bears are bound to let one slip soon, but Sunday might not be the day. Chicago should have an easier time gaining yardage at home in Soldier Field as the Seahawks make the dreaded west to east road trip.
Though it could be the most desperate and tough we’ve seen Seattle play, they won’t bring enough to be able to tame the Bears.
Final Score: 24-13 Bears
