NFL 2010 WEEK 5 – Total & Spread Betting Tips

Welcome to our Total & Spread Betting Tips segment for Week 5 of the NFL 2010 season.

An old and wise bettor once told us “more money is lost on betting on streaks to end than any other type of bet.” The San Diego Chargers have won 13 straight.

Here are some things you may want to consider when making your wager at popular online sportsbooks like Bodog.com.

Week 5 NFL 2010 – Betting Trends – Total & Spread Winners

CHARGERS @ RAIDERS – UNDER 45 Points

The Chargers vs. Raiders series has had an average total of 40.25 points the last four years.

Only two of the eight meetings have gone over the number (46 PTS Week 8 in ’08 and 47 PTS Week 17 in ’07). The six that have gone under have averaged 28.6 PTS.

The game total in the Raiders last 64 games has gone over 45 points just 15 times and their average is 37.6 total points over that stretch. In their last 64 games San Diego has averaged 46.7 total points.

VIKINGS @ JETS – Jets win and cover -4 point spread

The Jets have been playing short handed and they have still racked up 106 points on offense while giving up just 61 points on defense. They get Santonio Holmes back from suspension this week. The Vikings get Randy Moss who had nine stinking catches in four games with Tom Brady as his quarterback. He will be nothing more than a decoy in this game.

PACKERS @ REDSKINS – Packers win and cover -3 point spread

Both teams went into Philadelphia and beat the Eagles. Green Bay won 27-20 in Week 1 while Washington came away with a 17-12 victory in Week 4. That statistic alone can make a case for the Packers to win 27-21.
