Another season that started with so much hope ended in overwhelming disappointment for the Houston Texans and their betting faithful. The Texans opened the season with an impressive 34-24 over the Colts and were 4-2 through the first six weeks. Since them, they have gone 1-8 and fell off the playoff map a while back.

Jacksonville has the pressure of a must win game, on the road as well as the added complication of starting Buffalo Bills cast off QB Trent Edwards. David Garrard was forced to have finger surgery on Thursday and was placed on IR by the Jaguars. They will also be without stud running back Maurice Jones-Drew. Yikes!

Houston can put most of the blame for their woeful record on their defense that has surrendered an average of 27.3 points per game. The Jaguars aren’t much better with 25.7 PPG allowed average and don’t have enough (healthy) weapons to match the Texans on the road. It should still be a shootout though as we see the Texans getting the win and cover.

That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this land right on the number with the Texans at a -3 point spread. Parlay bettors would be wise to leave this game off their NFL Week 17 betting card.

If the Packers beat the Bears, the Giants season is over no matter what happens in their game against the Redskins.

Despite the fact that this is a home game, we don’t see the Redskins putting up much of a fight here. Rex Grossman will still be under center but may not last long against what should be a very angry Giants pass rush. Washington will then turn to rookie QB John Beck or maybe “The Rat” will throw QB Donovan McNabb under the bus, as the legendary Ray Charles sang, one more time – for the good times.
