The Bears can lock up the NFC North Division title with a win while the Vikings will be without All World running back Adrian Peterson and just wishing the season would end

When the season opened, not many forecasted that these two teams would have the records they currently have. If anything, most pundits and punters had the records predicted at the exact opposite to what they are through 14 weeks of the NFL 2010 season.

The Vikings year started the same way this season as it ended last season – with a loss to the Saints. Since then they have continued to spiral downward and they look as deflated as their home stadium roof at the Metrodome. Their last outing, also last Monday Night was a 21-3 beat down at the hands of the Giants.

This is the first time, in the modern era of Monday Night Football, that a team has played back to back games on the center stage. That will be a good trivia question down the road!

On the other side of the ball, we have been of the opinion that the Bears are a fraudulent division leader all season long and it showed last weekend. The Patriots went into Soldier Field and pummeled the Yogis by a 36-7 final score.

What should have been marquee match-up of long time divisional rivals has been reduced to a bone chilling battle of survival against the elements. There no truth to the rumor that the Vikings players have tried to coheres the Minnesota Golden Gophers into playing this one for them.

The Vikings are playing out the string and we can’t see them being very eager to play in the frigid conditions expected. The Bears have everything to play for and would like to render next week’s game, against the Jets, virtually meaningless.

With the weather being nasty, the Vikings being without Adrian Peterson and the Bears not the world-beaters they think they are, we see a low scoring game here. The Bears will win ugly and final score of 20-10 seems about right in this one.
