NFL 2010 Week 14 Game Preview – Free Picks

KC kicked their “Cinderella Season” into high gear right out of the gate as they beat SD 21-14 on a rainy night in Kansas City back in Week 1 on Monday Night Football. With a win, on the road, with their backup quarterback, the Chiefs can snuff out the Chargers playoff hopes. A victory by the Chargers puts them right back in the chase for the AFC West title as they would trail Kansas City by just one game.

The Chiefs looked sluggish last weekend as they barely beat the Broncos by a 10-6 final score. The Chargers meanwhile looked downright horrible, as they were pummeled 28-13 by the Raiders.

Weather won’t be a factor in this game, as the forecast is calling for just another perfect day in sunny San Diego. QB Matt Cassell is under the weather for the Chiefs though as he had emergency appendectomy surgery earlier this week. That means Brodie Croyle (0-8 lifetime record as a starting QB) will be facing the leagues top pass defense in the Chargers.

The Bolts will stack the line to shut down the run and dare Croyle to beat them through the air (he won’t). San Diego returned to their fumbling and bumbling ways last weekend but, if they play mistake free here, they should easily take down the Chiefs.

Free Picks – NFL 2010 Week 14 Game Preview

Arizona and Denver are playing out the string on what has been a nightmare season for both teams. The Broncos just fired head coach Josh McDaniels who spent a bit too much time thinking he was Bill Belichick and not enough time realizing he was Josh McDaniels.

“Disciples” of Belichick are now 0-4 in head coaching attempts as Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini and Nick Saben failed previously. Even Charlie Weis found the going tough in the college ranks at Notre Dame as the head coach of the Fighting Irish.

Meanwhile, it turns out that QB Kurt Warner and WR Anquan Bolidin were pretty important pieces of the Cardinals puzzle. Arizona ranks 30th in pass yards and 31st in points scored, total yards and rushing yards. Yikes! Hey, didn’t you used to be the Arizona Cardinals who played in the Super Bowl just two years ago?

Both of these teams are horrible but Denver is “less” horrible and the coaching change should spark the Broncos. Denver is nowhere near as offensively challenged as the Cardinals are and that will be the difference in the end.
