Broncos vs Patriots: NFL 2011-12 Divisional Playoff Free Pick
NFL Divisional Saturday Playoff action wraps up with the New England Patriots hosting the Denver Broncos in prime time tonight. A spot in the American Football Conference Championship is on the line in this one.
This AFC playoff football wagering action has its kickoff slated for Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 8:00 PM ET from Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. It’s the legendary Tom Brady against the spirited Tim Tebow for the right to play the Baltimore Ravens next weekend.
AFC 2011-12 NFL Playoffs: Broncos @ Patriots Preview
New England ((13-3 Home 7-1) finished off another fine regular season with their eleventh straight winning record. Dating back to the 2001 NFL season, the Patriots own an astounding 134-42 regular season record. New England is back in the playoffs for the third straight season and ninth time in the last eleven years. Experience and home field advantage will be factors in this contest.
Denver (8-8 Road 5-3) is coming off of a huge 29-23 overtime win over the injury riddled Pittsburgh Steelers in last weekends Wild Card playoff action. The Broncos are in the playoffs for the first time in six years. Their last playoff win was 27-13 victory against the Patriots in the 2005 Divisional Playoffs. Denver lost 34-17 to the Steelers in the AFC Championship the following weekend.

NFC Wild Card Saturday: New England vs. Denver Betting Lines
Bovada, and their spanking new online sportsbook, is the betting lines supplier for our New England vs. Denver Free Pick. When it comes to sports betting, Bovada learned from the best and the tradition continues! Will the “Mile High Messiah Magic” continue or will the Broncos get busted?
Quit frankly, after seeing it all play out last weekend, we’re not surprised that the Broncos are at the giant shaving can this weekend. The Steelers were a battered and bruised football team that ran out of horses on the road. The Patriots, and their lethal offense, are a totally different kettle of fish. Plus, the Broncos reek of the 2010 Seattle Seahawks who beat the Saints in the first round last season.
New England hasn’t won a playoff game since they beat the San Diego Chargers 21-12 in the 2007 AFC Championship. The New York Giants fraudulent 17-14 Super Bowl XLII victory started a run of three straight playoff loses for the Patriots. We actually feel that works in the favor of New England as neither head coach Bill Belichick or QB Tom Brady wear the horse collar of “LOSER” very well.
Back in Week 15 the Broncos were -7 point underdogs at home and the Patriots whacked them with a 41-23 playoff clinching beat down. In that contest the Broncos started fast with a 16-7 second quarter lead but the Patriots scored 23 unanswered points, and capitalized on three Denver fumbles, to complete the blowout. A similar result could be the order of the day in this one as well.
Whether the Patriots are going to win is not the question here. If we owned a farm we would bet it straight up on Brady, Welker, Gronkowski & Co. The monster spread, the Broncos not wanting to be embarrassed on global TV, and the Patriots pulling starters late in the game, are all valid concerns.
NFL Point Spread Facts: Patriots vs. Broncos Free Pick Prediction
During the record season, there were ten games with a betting line of 14 or more points. In those contests, the favorite won each of the games (266-93) and went 5-4-1 against the spread.
New England covered as -17 chalk against the Chiefs in Week 11 but failed to get over the number as -20.5 favorites when they defeated the Colts 31-24 in Week 13 action. Of the ten big spreads, 14 points was the exact number seven times, the favorites had a 4-3 record.
We worried about a back door cover by the Lions as -11 point pups last weekend. We have that same concern here but feel the experienced, rested, prepared, playoff win hungry home team Patriots will be go pedal to the metal for the majority of this contest.
