NFL Week 5 MNF Free Pick: Lions vs Bears Betting Lines

Talk about a tale of two cities – along with two seasons. As these two long standing NFC North Division foes get set to battle, the Lions are flying along at 4-0, while Chicago is a fraudulent 2-2 and barely treading water.

This “Black & Blue” Division football wagering action is slated for kickoff at 8:30 PM ET on Monday, October 10, 2011, from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

Monday Night Football: Bears @ Lions Game Day Preview

Detroit gets their second home game of the season and their first since Week Two. The Lions are appearing on MNF for the first time since 2001 when they got whacked 35-0 by QB Kurt Warmer and the Greatest Show on Turf.

Week 13 during the 2010 season, against these same Yogi’s, was the last time the Cardiac Cats lost a football game (24-20). The Lions have eight straight regular season wins – dating back to Week 14 of last year. Detroit sits 2nd in points scored with 33.8 PPG, and 7th in points allowed at 19 PPG.

Chicago heads out on the road for just the second time this season. They opened the year with a win, then dropped two straight, before squeaking past the Panthers in Week Four. The Bears sit 15th in points scored with 23.5 PPG, and 18th in points allowed at 24.5 PPG.

NFL Week Five MNF Betting Lines: Lions vs. Bears Free Pick

With the Lions vs. Bears betting line running as high as -6.5 points, at some online wagering websites, we were pleasantly surprised to see Detroit as just -4.5 point chalk at the BetOnline Sportsbook. Remember, it pays to shop around for the best odds!

Detroit vs Chicago Betting Lines Week 5 NFL MNF

We say the Yogi’s are a fraudulent 2-2 because they managed wins against the mediocre Falcons and Panthers but got crushed by the Saints and Packers. Chicago seems to play on MNF every year. We aren’t sure why though, because they suck at it with a 19-32 all-time record – including a 1-3 mark against the Lions.

The officials brain dead blunders from the two games in 2010 are well documented. Both calls were horrible and, either of them alone, led to the Bears making the NFL 2010 Playoffs as the fraudulent NFC North Chumps.

WR Calvin Johnson had a TD taken away in Week One giving the Yogi’s a gift wrapped win. Matthew Stafford suffered what would end up being a season ending shoulder injury in this contest, as he played in just two other games in 2010 after that.

DT Ndamukong Suh got nailed with a personal foul after he made a clean hit on a fleeing QB Jay Cutler, who was running for his life, and the Yogi’s won again in Week 13.  We sense some Karma creeping into Motown tonight.

What goes around – comes around. Revenge will be best served on the FieldTurf at Ford Field!
