MLB Trend Betting: Backing The Best America League Aces
We are now just two sleeps away from the start of the 2013 Major League Baseball season as the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers toss out the first pitch on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Minute Maid Park.
Today we take a look at some of the best pitchers in baseball as there are benefits in backing them in many of their starts this season. Spring has sprung and Boys of Summer are heading back to the diamonds!
American League Aces: The Vaporizer still leads the way
When it comes to top aces in the American League, none have been better than Justin Verlander of Detroit Tigers over the past four years. When “The Vaporizer” heads to the bump Detroit is 95-48 (.664) dating back to 2009. With an average money line of about -160, that is cash in the bank.
It gets even better in day game starts as Verlander is 37-13 (.740) when the sun is shining. Throw in the big bats of the Tigers offense and we’re confident that Verlander will have double the wins over loses again this season. The winning run starts on April 1, 2013, versus the Twinkies.
Angels, Blue Jays, and Rangers all send top pitching prospects to the bump
It should be noted that top pitchers often face other top pitchers and rotations are set on a weekly basis. With that in mind, some of the other aces we like in the AL include Jared Weaver from the Los Angeles Angels along with Yu Darvish and Matt Harrison from the Texas Rangers.
Like the Tigers, the Halo’s are loaded with hitting talent to give Weaver lots of support. We like Harrison right out of the gate as he will face the Astros on Sunday. Toronto starters R.A. Dickey and Mark Buehrle are also on our radar as the Jays are challengers in the AL East this season.
