MLB Free Pick: Yankees vs. Angels Betting Lines
After a successful opening night to the NFL 2011 season, we head back to Major League Baseball, and an epic American League tilt, for today’s Free Pick. The New York Yankees travel cross country to face the Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim under the lights tonight.
This exciting baseball betting action gets underway at 10:05 PM ET on Friday, September 9, 2011, from Angel Stadium of Anaheim. New York is leading the AL East while Anaheim sits second in the AL West.
Yankees @ Angels: MLB Game Day Betting Preview
Both the Yankees and Angels are locked in bitter battles for first place in their respective American League divisions.
New York (87-55), despite a mini two game losing streak, has a slim 2.5 game lead over the Boston Red Sox in the AL East. The Yankees sense of urgency is not as great as that of the Angels. Barring a total collapse, the AL East runner-up will make the 2011 MLB Playoffs as a Wild Card entry.

Anaheim (78-65) is hooked in with the Texas Rangers in the most interesting playoff race in the league. The Angels have been scratching and clawing at the Rangers lead all season and they have it down to 2.5 games as play begins today. They are however a full seven games back in the AL Wild Chase race with just 19 games to play.
MLB Betting Lines: Angels vs. Yankees Free Pick
The MLB betting lines for tonight’s Angels versus Yankees Free Pick selection are courtesy of the sportsbook at the JustBet online soprts wagering website. We like the numbers we are getting with the hot hitting Bronx Bombers tonight!
We rarely like to bet on a contender versus a contender – we are going to make an exception here. The Yankees are the better team and we are getting +1.5 runs – at a fairly decent price.
New York RHP Bartolo Colon (8-9 3.72 ERA) has already beaten the Angels twice this year. The Yankees have won four of six games straight up and they are 5-1 against the spread against the Angels Angeles in 2011.
RHP Jered Weaver (16-7 2.49 ERA) as not been his stellar self as he has allowed seven runs, on 13 hits, in his last 11 inning pitched. Weaver is still a dominating pitcher but we wonder if he will get the run support he needs in what should be a low scoring affair.
While we aren’t prepared to bet on the Yankees to win this contest outright (though we feel they will) we can’t pass on the free runs we are getting with the highest scoring team in the Majors.
