MLB Early Season Betting Chalk Is Just Dust To Date
What is going on in Major League Baseball? The Philadelphia Phillies are in last place in the NL East, and even more shocking, the Washington Nationals are in first! Wait, there’s more news – and none of it’s good for a couple of MLB Opening Day favorites.
The Detroit Tigers are just one game over .500 in the American League Central, while the Los Angeles Angels are four games UNDER .500 in the AL West.
American League Championship Favorites Faltering
Whether it’s an early season slump, or a harboring of things to come, still remains to be seen. One thing is certain – the early season betting favorites have some work ahead of them! Trends or freak slump? We are going to go with it being a slump as these teams are still stacked!
If you had said that the Angels and Tigers would be a combined 30-33, with a fifth of the season in the books, we would have all had a good laugh and moved on. It’s not so funny now as the Tigers (16-15) trail the Cleveland Indians by two games in the American League Central Division. It’s an even worse joke in La La Land as the Albert Pujols Angels are already seven games back of the 21-11 Texas Rangers – who are romping through the American League West Division.
National League Underdogs Rising Up – Erasing The Chalk
No division in baseball is tighter than the National League East – it’s also the most back assward of the eight. The Washington Nationals, a team that has finished dead last in the NL East in five of their first seven seasons (with a 4th and a 3rd) are front and center with a 19-12 record.
Meanwhile, the Phillies – who have won the NLE five seasons in a row, are cellar dwellers with a 14-18 record and 5.5 games back of the Nats. St. Louis leads Cincinnati by 3.5 games in the NL Central, while the new Dodger Blue leads the SF Giants by five games in the NL West.
Strange times indeed! Have a look at the MLB betting board – at any of our top rated online sportsbooks. We won’t be erasing the spring training chalk just yet. Preseason favorites, like the Tigers, Phillies, and Angels, will get it rolling soon. When they do, bettors will get some sweet betting lines – until they prove that they really are for real.
