MLB American League East 2012 Division Betting Preview
No division has dominated baseball over the past two decades like the American League East has. Proof of that shines through when you see that teams from the AL East have won nine of the past 20 World Series.
The beasts from the East have also been represented in 12 of the last 20 final series. We see three possible contenders in this rock solid division during the coming Major League Baseball Season. Here’s a look at the AL East with play scheduled to begin on April 4, 2012.
American League East Championship: Three Horse Race
As was the case in 2011, popular online sportsbooks expect the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and the Tampa Bay Rays to battle for the top spot in the American League East.
Those three teams finished in the top five in the American League during MLB 2011 as the Yankees and Rays both made it to the post season. Age is catching up with both the Yankees and Red Sox and as such, the AL East should be a battle to the finish in 2012.
Toronto Blue Jays And Baltimore Orioles Battle For The Bottom
One has to feel for the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles as they struggle to compete with the Beasts in the East all season long. The Blue Jays and Orioles have finished in fourth and fifth the past four seasons. Don’t expect things to change much during the 2012 MLB campaign.
Toronto will field a very competitive team this season – but will it be enough? The Orioles on the other hand, without any quality pitching to speak of, are destined for yet another last place finish in the American League East. We’ll take a bite out of the Big Apple in this division!
