Los Angeles and Phoenix Battling for Playoff Positioning in Western Conference
With so many teams separated by mere points in the both conferences, Monday night’s NHL contest from the Staples Center in Los Angeles between the Kings and the Coyotes should not disappoint. Phoenix is just seven points behind Los Angeles in the standings, but the Kings are pretty much set with the sixth seed if nothing drastic changes. We like the Kings at home in this contest.
Kings headed for sixth seed in West playoffs
If nothing drastic happens to the Kings over the next couple of weeks, they should enter the playoffs with the sixth seed in the Western Conference. They are 10 points behind the Blackhawks, but just two points ahead of the Wild. So, if anything happens, they will find themselves dropping further down the standings for the playoffs. Coming into this game, the Kings have lost two straight overall and two straight to Phoenix in the season series.
Coyotes trying to make a run at a playoff spot
As of Monday, the Coyotes and the Stars both have 75 points, but Dallas sits in the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. A win for Vancouver would put them ahead of Dallas and into that eighth and final playoff spot. The Canucks need to string together some wins in regulation so they can pile-up as many points as possible down the stretch. The only good thing going for Vancouver right now is that they have taken two of the first three games against L.A.
A better point total and a higher spot in the standings will put you as favorites at SportsBetting.ag when the oddsmakers look at the opponent. When Los Angeles and Vancouver meet tonight, the Kings enter with a line of -1.5 (+170) and a money line of -170. We will back the Kings at home over the Canucks with the -170 line by betting 10 percent of our bankroll.
