Edmonton vs. Hamilton CFL Week 2 Finale: West Meets East
Week Two of the Canadian Football League schedule closes with the Edmonton Eskimo battling the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The Ticats will play their 2013 home games at Alumni Stadium at the University of Guelph, Ontario.
Although both clubs are looking for their first win, the Ticats definitely looked better in their season opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM ET on Sunday, July 7, 2013, and we sense a blowout in the making here.
Tiger-Cats campus life begins during CFL Week Two action
Somewhat removed from their college days, the Eskimos and Tiger-Cats will be back on campus tonight and a party-like atmosphere is expected at a sold-out Alumni Stadium. From a football perspective, Hamilton is looking for a complete game after the Cats offense fell silent during the second half of their 39-34 loss to the Argonauts during CFL Week 1 action. The Ticats jumped out to 21-8 first quarter lead, and led 31-25 at halftime, but they were outscored 14-3 in the second half last Thursday in Toronto. Ticats QB Henry Burris had a fairly solid start with 397 total yards and three touchdowns but, with the ball on the Argos 8-yard line, Burris failed to connect with WR Andy Fantuz on the last play of the game. Speaking of Fantuz, the 8-year CFL veteran caught ten passes for 155 yards and one TD versus the Argonauts. We like the Tiger-Cats in this contest.
Edmonton Eskimos: Regroup after a thumping in CFL 2013 home opener
Although they have a new coaching staff, lots of new players – including a new quarterback, and what was supposed to be a new attitude, it was the same old Edmonton Eskimos as they opened with 39-18 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Week One. QB Mike Reilly made his first start for the Eskimos and it’s a game he’ll want to forget as he tossed three interceptions and just one touchdown. Not much of anything worked on either side of the ball for the Green and Gold as they were down 36-6 at the end of the third quarter. The Eskimos racked up a lot of yards in garbage time but don’t let their 12-3 fourth quarter “win” fool you. The world-class online sportsbook at topbet.eu has posted Hamilton as home chalk at -7 (-110) ATS while the Over/Under is set at a lofty 55.5 points. We’ll lay the line and prowl with the Tiger-Cats to close out CFL Week 2 action!
