85th MLB All-Star Game Scheduled for Tuesday Night at Target Field

Steeped in history, the MLB All-Star game will be played for the 85th time when the AL and NL squads meet at Target Field in Minneapolis on Tuesday night. In what has become one of the most popular professional All-Star games, this version used to be played twice per season. From 1959 to 1962 there were two games played per season before that format was abandoned. We will bet on the AL squad in this year’s contest.

American League prepared to start a new win streak

The American League has gone streaking quite often over the past 15 years and would like to begin a new one on Tuesday night. They got the first win out of the way last year, a 3-0 victory over the NL squad at Citi Field in New York. Now, they just need a win Tuesday to start that streak. Aside from a brief, three-game losing streak from 2010-2012, the American League has dominated this series over the past 15-plus years.

National League holds all-time advantage in series

In the history of the MLB All-Star Game, the National League holds a slight advantage with a record of 43-39-2. The NL had a much larger lead in the series prior to a period of 12 losses in 13 games from the late 90s into the early 2000s. The one game the league did not lose was a tie in 2002. The last two games in this series featured shutouts, one for each league. They were the first shutouts in the series since 1996.

When the 85th MLB All-Star Game gets underway on Tuesday night, we will be placing our bets at Sportsbook.ag, where the American League is favored to win at Target Field in Minnesota. We are going to bet 15 percent of our bankroll on the AL squad and the -1.5 (+175) spread as they win their second straight game in this series.
