NFL Free Picks – Week 16 Thursday Night Football Preview

While this isn’t much of a Holiday treat for NFL bettors, it is football and any football is better than no football at all.

Carolina scored their second win of the season with a 19-12 win over the visiting Arizona Cardinals in Week 15 NFL action. In a season with so many losses it was nice to see the Panthers come up with some fight. They dominated the Cardinals as Arizona was held to just 218 total yards and just one touchdown that came on a fumble recovery in the end zone  late in the fourth quarter.

For their part, the Steelers played in a game that had a playoff type atmosphere but came up short with a 22-17 loss to the New York Jets. This match-up had the look and feel of a heavy weight battle as the teams were tied at 10-10 at the half and 17-17 as they started the fourth quarter. The Jets managed a field goal and a safety in the final period to seal the victory.

There isn’t a whole lot to like about this game and it could get ugly early. The Steelers will be an angry bunch coming off the loss to the Jets and can be a very dominant team at home. Carolina is playing out the string with rookie QB Jimmy Clausen under center and we can’t see them being able to get up for this game on the road.

Despite some injuries concerns (S Troy Polamalu and DE Aaron Smith are OUT) we can’t see the Steelers giving up many (if any) points here and the offense will look to fine tune for the playoffs. A 24-0 final score seems about right here.
