Browns 2010 NFL Season Odds Preview

If you are a fan of the Cleveland Browns, you are a true (long suffering) fan. Who else but a true fan would put up with two winning seasons and a 57-103 record over the past decade from their football team? A Detroit Lions fan would but that’s a story for later in the week.

Online sportsbooks are certainly not fans of the Browns as Cleveland’s total wins are posted at 5.5 (over -120 / under -110) for the 2010 NFL season.

Browns NFL Roster

Changes abound on the Browns NFL roster for the 2010 season and Cleveland is a long shot to win the AFC North with 50/1 odds. Both QB Derek Anderson and QB Brady Quinn were once considered saviors in Cleveland but are now with the Cardinals and Broncos respectively. One ruined the other in the Cleveland as the Browns made a mistake when they traded up (Dallas) to take Quinn with the 22nd pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.

Once they cleared house, the Browns brought in QB Jake Delhomme from Carolina and Senaca Wallace from Seattle to battle for the starting QB job. Delhomme has not been the same since his five interception performance in the 2008 NFC Conference Championship game but he is getting paid way more than Wallace and should win the battle.

Jerome Harrison is trying to hold off rookie running back Montario Hardesty for the starting role in the Browns backfield. The rookie is dealing with a tweaked knee and that is hurting his chances to be the starter and for bettors to capitalize on Hardesty’s +1500 odds to be the NFL Offensive Rookie of The Year. Second year players Brian Robiskie and Mohamed Massaquoi are the projected starters at wide receiver for the Browns. Ben Watson brings Super Bowl experience from his six seasons with the Patriots and will be the starting tight end in Cleveland.

Browns Championship Odds

There’s no question the Browns are rebuilding (still) and it clearly shows as Cleveland is a huge underdog at +7500 to win the AFC Championship.

When you start talking about winning it all the Browns odds go through roof at 100/1 to win Super Bowl XLV in February. The Browns will score some points during the 2010 NFL season but they are in over their heads in the tough AFC North.
