NFL Week One Best Bet Free Pick: Colts vs. Texans
As we mentioned, prior to Thursday night’s game, Week One in the NFL is about as predictable as the weather. Bet our Free Pick with caution!
It is further complicated by the time lost due to the NFL imposed Lockout that has set teams back to almost preseason form.
Kickoff for this pro football betting action is slated for 1:00 PM ET Sunday, September 11, 2011, from Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.
Colts @ Texans: Week One Game Day Preview
Everyone is aware of the fact that QB Payton Manning stayed behind in Indianapolis as the team travelled to the Lone Star State to face the Texans. The reason for the move is Manning had his third neck surgery procedure, in the last 19 months, on Thursday, September 8, 2011.
Still, we can’t understand the Colts being a -9 point puppy against the Texans, regardless who is under center. Indianapolis is a veteran team that is loaded with talent. QB Kerry Collins gets the start and, though no one will mistake him for Manning, he will be serviceable under center today.

It’s another one of those “this is our year” for the Texans as they have made some decent strides on defense which has always been their achilles heel.
That is all fine and good but the Texans are dealing with an injury to star RB Arian Foster who has a hamstring issue and will be a game time decision. Even if he does start, one has to wonder how effective he will be.
NFL Week One Betting Lines: Texans vs. Colts Free Pick
We look to the sportsbook at the JustBet.com online sports wagering website for today’s NFL Week One Free Pick betting lines. While it appears to have “sucker bet” written all over it, we can’t pass on the +9 points and the Colts.
An NFL playbook can be phone book size, but offenses will have the upper hand on the defenses in Week One. We feel this contest will be a high scoring “last to score – wins” type of game. The Colts are still a high powered offense, even with out Manning, and they could very well win this battle outright!
Past history can’t really be relied on here, as this is a different kettle of fish, with it being Week One and both teams dealing with injuries to some od their star players. That being said, NFL athletes, more than players in any other sport, watch the betting lines.
The Colts (16-2 all time vs. Houston) have to feel disrespected by this huge betting line against them and that should be the extra motivation they need to cover the spread.
