NFL Week 5 Best Bet: Giants vs. Seahawks Free Pick Prediction

We need to qualify our Week 5 Best Bet, featuring the Seahawks vs Giants, by stating that we needed to get off the schnide when it comes to betting on the New York Football Giants.

Don’t ask us about Super Bowl XLII versus the New England Patriots – when yours truly was just a whipper snapper of a handicapper. Suffice to say, we think we broke the “spell” when the G-Men got over on the St. Louis Rams during Monday Night Football in Week Two.

Seahawks @ Giants: Seattle Is East Coast Road Kill

While we are not big on “trend” betting, we can’t pass on the ones we found in this contest. Folks, the numbers look almost to good to be true. In their last ten games, versus the NFC West, the Giants are 8-2 against the spread.

On the flip side, the Seahawks are 1-9 as road underdogs against a line of eight or more points. Their lone cover (also a win) came against the New Orleans Saints, on Wild Card Weekend, during the NFL 2010 Playoffs. If it wasn’t for home field advantage, we feel they would have lost that contest as well.

NFL Week Five Betting Lines: Seahawks @ Giants Best Bet Free Pick

We were very excited to catch this line at -9.5 in the sportsbook at the BetOnline sports wagering website. That being said, we would probably give up 13.5 points and still back New York in this one.

Seahawks vs Giants NFL Week Five Betting Lines

This is the Shithawks second trip to the East coast this season. Their first cross country adventure ended in a 24-0 whitewash by the Pittsburgh Steelers. We are not fans of the Giants or Steelers, in fact we hate them both equally, but the G-Men are the better team of the two teams right now.

Since the second half of the Rams game in Week Two, the Giants have played some pretty inspired football. They sort of got away with one when sophomore WR Victor Cruz put the ball on the carpet to “give himself up” last week in Arizona. That being said, a win is a win.

New York (3-1) has climbed into first in the NFC East with three straight wins. The Giants will be without star RB Brandon Jacobs but Ahmad Bradshaw is a servicable backup  and the G-Men DEF should score enough to help make up for the loss.

The Seahawks (1-3) are the second worst team in the league (Jaguars) and they just lost starting WR Mike Williams. WR Sydney Rice will now get double coverage all game long in this one.

Add in QB Tarvaris Jacksons’ last game against the Giants, as a Minnesota Viking in Week 14 last season, and all we can say is OUCH!

TJ was 15 of 30 for 118 yards with zero TD’s and one 1 INT in that game. The Giants knocked him out twice – with four sacks. Double ouch!

Jackson had All World running back Adrian Peterson in his backfield on that snowy December day at Ford Field in Detroit. He doesn’t have a weapon close to Purple Jesus in this contest. Triple Ouch!
