MLB Free Picks: NLCS Game 4 Brewers vs. Cardinals Preview

Today’s Free Pick focuses on Game 4 of the NLCS and features a game day preview of the Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals match-up. After jumping out to a 4-0 first inning lead last night, the Cards hung on for a 4-3 win to take a 2-1 lead in 2011 NLCS.

With two suspect pitchers on the bump, we expect the ball to be battered around the yard all night long. That will lead to a high scoring affair in this one tonight.

Brewers @ Cardinals Pitching Preview: NLCS Game 4

Both the Brewers and Cardinals have played 170 games during the 2011 MLB season. Game 171 is the most crucial game of the year for both clubs. A Cardinals win gives the Red Birds a commending 3-1 series lead, while a Brewers victory would even up the 2011 MLB NLCS at two wins apiece.

First pitch for this Major League Baseball betting action is slated for Thursday, October 13, 2011, at 8:05 PM ET, from Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.

Brewers LHP Randy Wolf (13-10 .369 ERA) was hammered by the Arizona Diamondbacks in his last outing. That was Game 4 of the NLDS as the D-backs pounded out seven runs, on eight hits, and sent Wolf to the showers after just three innings pitched.

St. Louis counters with RHP Kyle Lohse (14-8 .339 ERA) who wasn’t much better in his lone NLDS start. Lohse gave up five runs, on seven hits over 5.1 innings pitched, against the Philadelphia Philles during Game 1 of the NDLS back on October, 1, 2011.

We surf over to the sportsbook at the TopBet online sports wagering website for tonight’s Free Pick betting lines. We were surprised to see the Brewers vs. Cardinals NLCS Game 4 total at 8.5 runs and, if we liked betting the OVER/UNDER, we would jump on the OVER here.

Brewers vs Cardinals NLCS Game 4 Betting Lines

After scoring nine runs in Game 1 of this series, the Brewers bats have cooled considerably as they have scored just six runs in their last two games. The Cardinals, led by Albert Pujols, have pounded out 35 hits, and scored 25 runs, compared to just 15 runs on 25 hits by the Brewers.

While we don’t trust either starting pitcher in this match-up, we trust Wolf a little less than Lohse. The Red Birds are a veteran team, that is soaring right now, while Milwaukee has lost eight straight playoff road games dating back to 1983.

At the time of publishing, we’re not 100% sure if the Tigers and Rangers will avoid the rain today. Their ALCS Game 5 is scheduled for 4:19 PM ET from Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan.

If the Tigers were horses, they would be shot and put out of their misery. Detroit is battered and bruised throughout their lineup. They have also lost their bullpen depth as neither Jose Valverde or Joaquin Benoit will be available to pitch tonight.

Even with Justin ” The Vaporizer” Verlander on the hill today, the Tigers are Texas toast. The Rangers are firing on all cylinders and we don’t see this series heading back to Texas.

This almost seems like a “suckers bet” but we’ll bite and roll with the Rangers tonight!
