NFL Week 7 Best Bet: Packers vs Vikings Free Pick
Every weekend we seem to find a couple of NFL betting lines that makes us scratch our head and ask why? That’s the case with the Packers vs. Vikings match-up this weekend. The question of why comes into play as the odds seem way too low for this contest.
Kickoff for this Week 7 NFL wagering action is scheduled for 4:15 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2011, from the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN.

Packers @ Vikings: Week 7 Best Bet Game Day Preview
Call us crazy but the Vikings as -9 point dogs is screaming at us to take the defending Champion Packers here. Green Bay has scored 24 TD to just 13 for the Vikings. The Packers have Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers under center while the Vikings will counter with rookie QB Christian Ponder who is making his first NFL start.
In Week 3, the Packers waxed the Bears 27-17 while the Vikings were humiliated 39-10 by those same Yogi’s last weekend during Sunday Night Football. Minnesota sits 24th in pass yards allowed (269.5 YPG) while Rodgers is averaging 339.5 passing yards per game – with 17 TD passes.
Neither team will have much success on the ground as the Packers sit 4th in run defense (82.8 RYA) while the Vikings are right behind them in 5th (83.5 RYA) overall.
Percy Harvin and Michael Jenkins have a combined 482 receiving yards and two TD through six games. Meanwhile, the Packers Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson have 943 combined receiving yards with eight touchdowns. Don’t get us started on the damage TE Jermichael Finely can/will cause.
NFL Betting Lines: Vikings vs. Packers Best Bet Free Pick
While surfing around the top online wagering websites, we found this line as high as Packers -10.5 so we are jumping on the -9 being offered in the sportsbook at JustBet. If this game was being played in Green Bay, the line would be closer to -15 Packers. We don’t see much of a hinderance for the Champs in the dilapidated Metrodome.
This is a very tough spot for the Vikings and their rookie QB as the ball hawking Packers sit second in the NFL with 11 INT through six games. We don’t see this baptism by fire ending well for Ponder.
Green Bay will get out to an early lead, force the Vikings to take to the air, and then the Packers defensive front seven will take over the game. This contest has “Blow Out” written all over it and we’ll back the defending Super Bowl Champs here.
