Cowboys @ Eagles: Sunday Night Football Preview

All the talk of the Eagles owning a Dream Team, and having a Dream Season, is water under the bridge as Philadelphia has fumbled and bumbled their way to a 2-4 record to start the season. Dallas hasen’t been any better as the Cowboys have blown leads, and have made way too many costly mistakes, en route to a 3-3 record.

Being has these two clubs meet twice every season, and have been battling each other since September 30, 1960, there is a ton of history is this NFL East series. Since the start of the 2008 NFL season, the Cowboys have owned the Eagles as they have won five of seven match-ups. That includes a 34-14 whacking during the 2010 Wild Card Weekend Playoffs.

This is a strength against strength battle as the Cowboys own the number one run defense in the league (69.7 YPG), while the Eagles are first in rushing offense as they average170 yards per game.

Dallas hasn’t been all that tested on the ground as they played the Jets, Redskins, Lions and Rams. None of  those teams have much of a running attack, as they rank no higher than 22nd in total rushing yards.

Philadelphia has used the combination of RB LeSean McCoy (569 RYD) and QB MDKV (372 RYD) to gain 941 of their 1,020 combined rushing yards. Again, these yards have come against suspect talent as the Rams, Giants, and Bills are all in the bottom ten when it comes to rush yards allowed.
