We rarely do understand the logic behind many of NFL schedule making decisions – like why the 4-9 Jags are in the Prime Time spotlight, for the second time in three weeks. This one could get very ugly, very fast!
NFL Game Day Free Pick Preview: Atlanta vs. Jacksonville
Kickoff for Thursday Night Football betting action is slated for 8:20 PM ET on December 15, 2011, from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta Georgia. JustBet.com has fantastic betting options for this game!
Jacksonville (4-9 Road: 1-5) has not thrown in the towel on their sinking season. With a rash of injuries, the firing of their Head Coach, the sale of the team, and the fact that they are out of the playoff race – they could have. After their 41-14 bashing of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in an all Florida battle during Week 14 action, the competition level is kicked up several notches tonight.
Atlanta (8-5 Home: 4-2) looked like they would slip out of the lead in NFC Wild Card race after they trailed the Panthers 23-7 at halftime in Carolina last weekend. A monster effort by QB Matt Ryan, who threw three second half TD passes, lead to 24 unanswered points as the Falcons escaped with a 31-23 win. The victory keeps them in command of a home field Wild Card Playoff berth.
Thursday Night Football Wagering Odds: Jaguars vs. Falcons Free Pick
Highly recommended online wagering website justBet.com, and their action packed sportsbook, is suppling the Thursday Night Football wagering lines for our Jaguars @ Falcons Free Pick.
Atlanta has been a solid SU home team buy recently as the Falcons are 14-6 when playing in their home nest. ATS is a slightly different story as they turn a slight profit at 10-8-2 as chalk. The PUSH games have come back-to-back as the Falcons are 2-2-2 ATS in six home games this season.
Jacksonville is a weak 5-15 SU and 7-13 ATS in their last 20 road contests. That includes a 2-4 ATS record during the 2011 NFL season. The Jaguars are a battered and bruised football team. More importantly, this will be their third game in eleven days – that is almost unheard of in today’s NFL.
This is the Falcons second last regular season home game. If they want to play in the Georgia Dome, during the 2011 NFL Wild Card Weekend, they need their home cooking magic to continue.
We expect Jacksonville, led by talented RB Maurice Jones-Drew will come out slugging under the bright lights tonight. That said, the drain of their short schedule, along with Matt Ryan & Co. carving up a battered secondary, should deflate the Jags fairly quick in this one.
If you’re thinking about driving with the Jaguars – their won’t be a lot of gas in the tank! It’s a lot of points to give, but we can’t see anything but a Falcons home chalk cover here!
