Wolf Pack vs. Golden Eagles: Hawaii Bowl Free Pick

We escape to the palm breeze of the Islands for tonight’s Free Pick as we feature Nevada vs. Southern Mississippi battling in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. We get two fairly potent scoring teams in this one.

Coupled with two not so potent defensive units this contest has the makings of saloon style shootout. We’ll cautiously fly with the Golden Eagles Money Line here.

Wolf Pack vs. Golden Eagles: Hawaii Bowl Game Preview

Nevada (7-5 OA 5-2 WAC) sandwiched a decent middle of the season with horrible start and a rocky finish. The Wolf Pack ran off a five game winning streak starting in Week Five. The four previous weeks, and the last three weeks season, they had a 2-5 record.

#21 Southern Mississippi  (11-2 OA 6-2 C-USA) ran roughshod over fairly weak talent playing out of Conference USA. They did however spoil the BCS Bowl Bid of undefeated #5 Houston as they won the C-USA Championship 49-28 over the Cougars.

2011 Hawaii Bowl Wolf Pack vs Golden Eagles

Southern Miss allowed a solid 112.62 rush yards per game, good for 20th in the Nation. Nevada loves to run the rock (8th overall in the Country) as they averaged 251.8 YPG. We expect a big Eagles win here but, if Nevada can control the clock, the Wolf Pack could keep this one close.

As such, we are going tread lightly and take the Golden Eagles on the Topbet.com Money Line.
