Oakland Trying to Save Season in Series Against Rival Angels
As the season winds down, the A’s find themselves in a tough spot. They have dropped into a tie with Kansas City for the top Wild Card spot and are just three games ahead of the Mariners for the second spot. Oakland has not rebounded from its late-season swoon and could be in a lot of trouble to finish the year. We like the A’s to win this game with Jon Lester on the mound.
A’s ask Lester to keep Mariners at bay
Lester has pitched to a record of 6-3 with a 2.20 ERA since the blockbuster trade that brought him to Oakland from Boston. He will take the ball tonight in an effort to lower the A’s magic number for clinching a playoff spot in the AL Wild Card race. He dominated the Phillies his last time out, but will face a tougher offense when he faces the Angels tonight at the O.co Coliseum. Lester must be on his game tonight so the A’s can survive another day.
Angels trying to push A’s out of playoff picture
Los Angeles has already clinched the AL West and now they are trying to secure home-field advantage throughout the AL playoffs. Los Angeles will send a lefty of their own to the mound in Hector Santiago. Santiago is 5-9 with a 3.98 ERA this season, but has struggled mightily in his last two starts. In those two starts, Santiago has recorded just nine outs. He was battered by the Astros and the Rangers in those starts.
We will place our bet on the Angels and the A’s at BetOnline.ag, where the Athletics are favored to win this contest against the Angels. We like Oakland to win this game, which is why we will drop 10 percent of our bankroll on the A’s and the -187 money line on Wednesday night as this AL Wild Card race becomes even more interesting.
