Mariners Go For Sweep Over Angels in Anaheim Wednesday Night
After all the talk of the Mike Trout contract extension, he and the Angels got off to a great start on Opening Day. Trout homered in his first at-bat of the season, but the Mariners went on to dismantle the Angels. Now, the Mariners will look to record an early-season sweep of their AL West rivals on Wednesday night in Anaheim. We like Seattle in this contest for the three-game sweep.
Mariners off to great start to season in AL West
With two wins under their belts against the Angels, the Mariners can add to their lead in the AL West with a three-game sweep of their rivals on Wednesday night. Seattle has outscored the Angels 18-6 in the first two games of the season, causing fans to dream and think about what this season could become if things stay the same. Lefty James Paxton, one of the team’s top pitching prospects, takes the hill tonight.
Angels pitching looks questionable at best early on
We know it is still the first week of the season, but the Angels pitching staff looks very questionable this year. The same can be said for how the staff was handled in the first two games against Seattle. Starters were left in too long and relievers were not utilized properly. Los Angeles will need to hit better with runners in scoring position to win tonight. Through the first two games, the Angels are just 1-for-13 with RISP. Tuesday night saw a 1-for-8 effort.
The oddsmakers at Bovada.lv like the host Angels to salvage the final game of this season-opening series on Wednesday night, but we don’t see that happening. With the excellent offensive start to the season for Seattle, we will drop 15 percent of our bankroll on the Mariners and the OVER 7.5 total runs scored tonight at -110 as they record the sweep.
