Eagles vs Redskins: NFL 2010 Week 4 Review

The Washington Redskins visited the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Week Four NFL 2010 action.

The Eagles came into this NFC East divisional match-up riding a two game winning streak with a 2-1 overall record. After two straight loses the Redskins have dipped to 1-2.

The McNabb and Vick story created lot of hype for this game and as such; bettors at the Bodog.com online sportsbook wagered it on heavily.

Eagles vs Redskins:  Road Underdog Wins, Game Total Goes Under

One of the biggest shockers, in a week filled with them, was the Redskins vs Eagles game. Washington came into this contest as a +5.5 point road underdog but left a winner as the game total came in under 43.5 points.

The total was threatening to go over as 23 points were scored by half time but the teams combined for just six points in the second half. The line opened at 6.5 and was bet down to 5.5 by game time while the money line stayed steady at WAS +210 at most online sportsbooks.

Redskins defeat Eagles – Final Score: 17-12

As is the case many times when something is over hyped, the whole McNabb vs Vick saga turned out to be a non-factor in this game. Vick left in the game with rib and chest injuries on the final play of the first quarter. McNabb’s line looked like he played for just a quarter, as he was a pedestrian 8 of 19 for 125 yards, with one TD and one INT.

Eagles QB Kevin Kolb replaced Vick and was largely ineffective in relief, though he did seem to shake off the rust somewhat as the game progressed. Losing teams out gaining the winners has been a common theme through the first four weeks of the 2010 NFL season. That was the case again in this game as the Eagles had 353 total yards to just 293 for the Redskins.

Eagles & Redskins Game MVP

Eagles Game MVP: In a bleak offensive day for the Eagles, RB LeSean McCoy shined as he rushed for 64 yards and caught an amazing 12 passes for another 110 yards.

Redskins Game MVP: After almost being lost on waivers, RB Ryan Torain was added to the Redskins 53 man roster prior to Week 3. He responded in Week 4 with 70 rushing yards and a TD.
