The 2010 NFL Week 5 Monday Night Football game features the Minnesota Vikings traveling to the “Big Apple” to face the New York Jets. Minnesota has not looked like the contenders many though they would be as they sit at 1-2 and third in the NFC North.
The Jets came back to the “real world” after taking some “Hard Knocks” in a Week 1 loss to the Ravens. They have now reeled off three straight impressive wins to get to 3-1 and lead the AFC East.
2010 Jets Offense
New York ranks in the top ten in two of the four major defensive categories. They have scored 26.5 points per game (6th) while gaining 339.5 total yards per game (14th).
Quarterback Mark Sanchez is starting to heat up but the Jets are still a low end 25th in pass yards (171.8) while they have excelled in the running game and sit 2nd overall with 167.8 rush yards per game.
2010 Vikings Defense
Through three games the Vikings defense has been the heart and soul of the team as they top ten across the board.
Minnesota ranks 3rd in points allowed (12.7) and 4th in total yards surrendered (276.3). Their pass defense is 8th overall (189) and they are 9th in run defense. (87.3).
Eagles vs 49ers Betting Odds & Game Prediction
In what should be a classic MNF battle, Bodog has the Jets as -4 point favorites and they have set the total at 39 points. Sportsbook.com has the Jets as -190 money line favorites while the Vikings are the pups with a +165 ML.
Game Prediction: The Jets have been playing lights out football with the maturation of QB Sanchez and the rebirth of RB LaDainian Tomlinson. The Vikings added WR Randy Moss from the Patriots but we wonder how much he will help in his first game or the rest of the way for that matter.
This will be the best defense the Jets have faced so far but we still like them at home to cover the -4 and send the total OVER with a 23-17 victory.
