NFL 2010 Week 6 Game Review: Buccaneers vs Saints

The New Orleans Saints were in the spotlight as they visited Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL to battle the Buccaneers in Week 6 NFL 2010 action.

Sportsbook.com had the Saints as -4.5 road favorites at with the game total set at 43.5 points.

Betting lines at Bodog.com closed at -200 for the Saints while the Bucs were +170 home underdogs against the money line.

Saints QB Drew Brees threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns, but the more notable performace was that of Saints rookie RB Chris Ivory, who led all players with 158 rushing yards..

After the visitors’ first touchdown in the first quarter the Buccaneers seemed to accept defeat, reminiscent of the ‘Yuccaneers” teams of the mid-80s to mid-90s, when they routinely lost by double-digits.

A New Orleans touchdown in every quater steadily completed the victory. Lance Moore (41 yards), Robert Meachem (42 yards), Heath Evans (4 yards) and Ladell Betts (1 yard) earned the majors respectively.

The Bucs were down 24-0 in the third quarter until Josh Freeman threw to Michael Spurlock for six points. The two-point conversion attmept failed.

The Saints are back on track after a shocking 30-20 defeat to the Cardinals last week, and should feel confident hosting the Cleveland Browns in Week 7.

Saints Game Ball: RB Chris Ivory. With 15 rushing attempts, Ivory saw a lot of the ball and didn’t disppoint. Not only is he in the good books of fantasy footballers, he ran for 158 yards and got himself noticed by coach Payton and offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr.

The Saints (4-2) sit in second in NFC South behind Atlanta (4-2) based in the tie-breaking rules. In Week 7 New Orleans will host the Cleveland Browns at home on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET.

Buccaneers Game Ball: SS Sean Jones. Jones looked like he believe in the comback all game long. With 8 tackles, he led the defense and was one of the few bright lights in a bleak performance by the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay (3-2) are 3rd in the NFC South but don’t have to worry about the Panthers (0-5) catching up any time soon. In Week 7 the Buccaneers host the Rams (3-3) in an NFC inter-conference showdown.
