NFL Week 7 Review – NFL Week 8 Preview: Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville visited Arrowhead Stadium to face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 NFL action. Both David Garrard (concussion) and Trent Edwards (thumb) were unable to start at quarterback as they nursed injuries.

That forced the Jaguars to turn to Todd Bouman at quarterback. It wasn’t a pretty site as Bouman went 18 of 36 for 222 yards, 2 TD and 2 INT in his first start since 2005. The Chiefs routed the Jaguars 41-20 as the -9 point home favorite won, covered and sent the game total OVER.

We continue to feel sorry for All World RB Maurice Jones-Drew as he languishes with this poorly coached and horribly managed franchise. The fact that Jack Del Rio still has his head-coaching job is beyond any reasonable comprehension.

Jacksonville should get Garrard back for the game against the Cowboys as he passed his concussion test (26/10/10) and has been cleared to play. Garrard won’t have Eben Britton to protect him as the Jags starting right tackle tore the labrum in his right shoulder during Week 7 and is now done for the year.

All that is mute though when you consider that the Jaguars can’t seem to get up for any team that’s not named the Indianapolis Colts.

NFL Week 7 Review – NFL Week 8 Preview: Dallas Cowboys

With their season hanging by a thin string, Dallas welcomed their NFC East bitter rival the New York Giants to Cowboys Stadium for the Week 7 edition of Monday Night Football.

The Cowboys started out strong with two interceptions that they turned into a 10-0 lead less than six minutes into the game but it was all down hill from there. The 41-35 final score is actually flattering as the G-Men backed off a bit during the 4th quarter and allowed Dallas two late touchdowns.

Dallas not only the lost the game but they also lost starting QB Tony Romo who suffered a fractured left clavicle in the second quarter. The G-Men are QB killers as they have knocked off five of them now.

If anyone should get a pass when it comes to the Cowboys sucking like a vacuum, it should be Romo. The guy had been running for his life all season but still had a 69.5 completion rate with 1,605 passing yards and eleven touchdowns. In this one though, the -2.5 road underdog Giants won outright as the 42-35 final eclipsed the 45.5 game total.

Dallas now turns to journeyman QB Jon Kitna in their attempt to salvage what has quickly become a nightmare 2010 NFL season. Kitna can be a serviceable backup but, in his 14th season, his lack of speed will make him a sitting duck behind the sieve-like O-Line in Dallas.

Any thoughts Dallas had of competing in Super Bowl XLV, in their home stadium, have all but evaporated thanks to their embarrassing 1-5 start.
